Bluesky will soon add DMs and videos
Bluesky on smartphone

Decentralized social media platform Bluesky has already racked up some big accomplishments. It's a rare example of a Twitter / X-competitor that has found success. Most other competitors, aside from the Meta-backed Threads, have since-closed up shop. In addition, Bluesky was able to rack up more than 3 million sign-ups during a period where users could only join the platform via invite. Since opening up to all, Bluesky has amassed more than 5.6 million users.

And, Bluesky has been able to do all of this without two major features found on most big social media platforms: direct messages (DMs) and video uploads. But, that won't be the case for long.

SEE ALSO: You came back to Threads. Here's how it can keep you.

In a post published on Tuesday, the Bluesky team shared its upcoming plans for the platform and those plans include DMs and video.

DMs, video, and more are on the way

According to Bluesky, the team is planning to add a slew of new features in the coming months.

DMs, or private messages, appear first on Bluesky's list of things-to-do. As Bluesky points out, all posts on the platform have been public so far. That will change soon as the team works on "a DM service that will integrate into the Bluesky app." Bluesky says the first version of the DM feature will allow users to restrict who they can receive messages from. Users will be able to allow DMs only from users that they follow, disable DMs entirely, or have open DMs, meaning anyone can private message them on the platform.

Probably the most notable feature gap on Bluesky is the lack of video uploads. That will soon change too. Bluesky says upon release, this feature will allow users to upload video clips up to 90 seconds long.

While those are the biggest on Bluesky's list, there are other features on the way too. Bluesky says it's working on its own OAuth or "Log in with" feature. Once that's in place, third-party websites and platforms will be able to give users the option to sign-up using their Bluesky accounts.

In addition, Bluesky is looking to further build out features that are unique to its platform too. Bluesky has one of the more robust anti-harassment features and it's looking to improve those moderation tools.

Another unique Bluesky feature, Custom Feeds, which allows users to completely customize their timeline, will be getting a bunch of new updates. Bluesky says there will be the ability to submit particular posts to feeds and curate submissions, requests to the algorithm to "show more" or "show less" of a particular type of content, and the ability to "drive superfeeds" that will show what's happening in your following feeds' communities.

In all, it appears like there are a lot of new things coming to Bluesky. During a week where Twitter founder Jack Dorsey left its board of directors, these new features will surely be welcome additions among the Bluesky community.

FTX reports a shocking billion dollar surplus after bankruptcy
A towering stack of gold coins and dollar bills casting a shadow over a broken FTX logo, with a bright light shining from behind the money pile, symbolizing FTX's unexpected financial recovery amidst its bankruptcy.

Bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX has accumulated billions of dollars more than necessary to cover the losses incurred during its collapse in November 2022.

FTX CEO John Ray voiced his astonishment at the milestone in a commentary to Bloomberg, indicating the exchange’s ability to fully reimburse its over 2 million customers. With the upcoming sale of its assets, FTX is expected to have approximately $16.3 billion in cash, surpassing its $11 billion debt to customers and other non-governmental creditors. Ray said:

In any bankruptcy, this is just an unbelievable result.

While bankruptcy victims will receive full payments with interest, court documents suggest that equity holders are unlikely to receive any residual amounts. Depending on the type of claim, some creditors could potentially recover up to 142% of their owed amounts. Still, most customers may receive 118% of their account balances at the time of the bankruptcy filing.

FTX’s restructuring advisers suggested setting up a fund to compensate certain creditors, using funds that would have otherwise been collected by regulatory bodies. The timeline for this initiative is not yet clear, but payouts are expected to occur in the coming months.

Markets react

Following the news around the defunct exchange’s newfound wealth, FTX Token (FTT) — the trading platform’s native token — surged to $2, gaining over 33% according to CoinMarketCap data. The cryptocurrency exchange collapsed in November 2022 amid allegations of embezzlement and misappropriation of billions of dollars in customer funds involving its owners and affiliated hedge fund Alameda Research.

Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of FTX, was sentenced to 25 years in prison and ordered to pay back $11 billion. FTX’s collapse sent waves through the crypto industry, with digital asset lender Genesis filing for bankruptcy shortly after causing troubles at major exchange Gemini and a legal battle.

Microsoft launched a new ‘air-gapped’ AI model — but none of you can use it
Futuristic lock icon on black background. 3D render

Microsoft has created a generative AI model for top-secret work within US intelligence agencies.

This model is supported in an "air-gapped" environment, Microsoft's CTO of Strategic Missions and Technology William Chappell told Bloomberg. In other words, it's entirely unconnected, distinct from cloud-based AI models that are susceptible to hacks and data leaks.

SEE ALSO: Microsoft to law enforcement: No using Azure OpenAI for facial recognition

What makes Microsoft's new AI model a coveted spy gadget

For intelligence agencies, Microsoft's model is a way to process and analyze vast quantities of classified information without compromising secrecy. Last fall, Bloomberg reported that the CIA was building its own internal ChatGPT-style tool to sift through public data for clues. In April, Sheetal Patel, assistant director of the CIA for the Transnational and Technology Mission Center, said intelligence agencies all over the world are racing to be the first to harness generative AI, saying "I want it to be us."

The model, built upon OpenAI's GPT-4 large language model, underwent an 18-month development process, according to Chappell. The project required overhauling a supercomputer in Iowa and is on a special network that's only accessible by the US government. While the model is technically cloud-based, it's a static cloud that's isolated from the internet, so it can't learn from data and files shared by users or information gleaned from the web.

Chappell said the model is now live and undergoing testing by the various US intelligence communities.

The four best AI writing apps worth a try
The best four free AI writing apps you should try. This image depicts a futuristic scene where a humanoid robot with a sleek, metallic design is programming on two laptops simultaneously. The robot is equipped with visual sensors on its head, resembling high-tech goggles, and is using its articulated robotic hands to type and interact with the screens. The backdrop features a digital, circuit-like pattern, enhancing the technological theme of the image. This setting conveys the integration of advanced robotics and artificial intelligence in performing complex tasks.

Whatever the industry, more and more people are using artificial intelligence to assist with their work, especially since the launch of ChatGPT. Many workers and students now use the tool to write documents, essays, and more. It often speeds up the process of creating content and managing the mundane aspects of work. While they aren’t taking over the world yet, they are quickly evolving and have reached a stage where they can be useful, at least in the right circumstances.

Of course, all AI writing software requires some level of human oversight to achieve the best results. Without it, the software can generate content that is rather generic or even hallucinate facts, even though it may appear to be written by a human. As AI tools gain popularity, people are becoming more adept at recognizing the often bland nature of AI-generated content and are likely to either identify it or at least be suspicious of content that seems to lack a human touch.

How do AI writing tools work?

Predictive text on a smartphone or keyboard works in a similar way to AI. It essentially provides an “educated” guess as to what a user might say next based on their history of typing in a specific app. The difference is that it will rely on what other people have said as well, and find some level of commonality.

For example, if typing the sentence “The cat sat on the,” the model predicts the word “mat” based on the input sequence. It’s a simplistic illustration, but in reality, the model considers a vast number of possible continuations based on its training data and selects the most likely one.

Some large language models (LLMs) now use internet searches to gather information relevant to their writing prompts, which they then integrate into their responses. While earlier versions tended to produce stiff and robotic output, developments in algorithms and programming have allowed AI writers to produce more human-like responses. These days, most are using OpenAI’s ChatGPT models to power their tools.

Which is the best free AI app for writing?

ReadWrite decided to ask AI itself for a text prompt to assess how well it would fare:

Write a 250-word short story about a character who discovers a hidden world within their favorite childhood book. The story should include:

  • A vivid description of the hidden world, including its unique features and inhabitants.
  • The character’s emotional journey as they explore this new world and confront their own nostalgia.
  • A surprising twist or revelation that changes their perspective on the book and their childhood.

Copy.ai

Copy.ai’s free trial uses ChatGPT-3.5, hence it is limited in terms of vocabulary and sophistication. Using the given prompt, it managed to create a story about a woman named Evelyn who discovered a magical library hidden in a garden.

Free AI writing app Copy.ai: As she dusted off the old, weathered copy of The Secret Garden, Evelyn never expected to be transported into a brand new realm. She found herself standing in an enchanting garden blanketed in a soft, golden glow. Flowers of every color bloomed in abundance, emitting a sweet, intoxicating aroma that danced upon the air. Ethereal creatures fluttered between the vibrant blossoms, resembling a blend of butterflies and tiny fairies. Their laughter filled the air like a melodious symphony.Evelyn couldn’t help but be overcome by a wave of nostalgia as she wandered through the garden, the fond memories of her childhood flooding back to her. Yet with each step, she felt her heart swell with a longing for the innocence and wonder of youth that had since slipped away. As she continued exploring, Evelyn soon stumbled upon a hidden library nestled within the garden. The shelves were adorned with stories she had long forgotten, tales that had once fueled her imagination. The books now seemed to hold a whisper of magic, urging her to uncover the truths hidden within their pages. The surprising twist came when Evelyn realized that the characters from her favorite childhood tales were alive within this secret world, existing beyond the confines of their stories. She had the power to free them from their scripted lives and grant them the autonomy to live as they wished. The revelation changed Evelyn’s perspective on her beloved book and her childhood aspirations. She realized that the magic of childhood could be carried into adulthood, that nostalgia could be a guiding force rather than a tether to the past. And with a newfound sense of purpose, she vowed to preserve the magic of the garden and the stories held within its walls for generations to come.
Copy.ai went with the classic “The Secret Garden” as its nostalgic read

While the story was quite pleasant to read, several noticeable AI traits appeared. For one, it used the main character’s name in every paragraph. Several words seem to be commonly used by ChatGPT, such as “nostalgia,” “abundance,” and “vibrant.” Combined with the repetitiveness, it seemed rather obvious that AI was used.

The pro version of Copy.ai uses ChatGPT-4, so it may produce better results. It’s unclear whether the app will incorporate new versions of the LLM, as OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman revealed that ChatGPT-5 is on its way.

Copy.ai is also compatible with a variety of other AI models including Azure and Anthropic, which makes it more flexible for delivering results. Another piece of good news is that the company has a zero-retention data policy.

Like OpenAI, Copy.ai has a free version with limited words, while the Pro version starts from $36 per month for five users, and has unlimited capacity.

Anyword

Anyword is a little bit more complicated to use as it doesn’t bring the user directly to the writing app. It offers a variety of writing options, including 1,000-word SEO-friendly blog articles, social media posts, and ad campaigns. If you just need a simple text prompt box, you can find it under “general prompt” on the dashboard.

Free AI writing app Anyword: Elara's fingertips brushed against the tattered spine of The Enchanted Forest, her favorite book from childhood. It had been a gift from her grandmother, a portal to a magical world where animals talked, and trees whispered secrets. As she opened the cover, a gust of wind spun the pages until it stopped abruptly on a sketch she had never seen before: a small, intricately drawn door in the trunk of the ancient Heartwood Tree.Compelled by an inexplicable urge, Elara pressed her finger against the door in the drawing. To her astonishment, the paper absorbed her finger like water soaking into dry earth, pulling her into a vortex of colors and sounds. Elara landed softly on a bed of moss at the base of the Heartwood Tree, now towering above her, its branches a canopy of glowing leaves. This hidden world was vibrant, more vivid than she remembered from the stories. Creatures of all shapes and sizes flitted through the air, and flowers hummed with a strange, harmonious music. As she wandered, a wave of nostalgia washed over Elara. Memories of her grandmother reading to her, their laughter mingling with the turning pages, enveloped her in warmth. But as she ventured deeper, a realization dawned upon her: this world wasn't just a figment of her imagination or her grandmother's tales—it was their shared dream, a realm shaped by their collective hopes and fantasies. Approaching the Heartwood Tree once more, Elara found an engraving she had missed before: her name, intertwined with her grandmother's, etched into the bark. Tears filled her eyes as she understood—this magical world was a gift, a secret place where they could always meet, even if only in spirit. With a heart full of love and a newfound connection to her past, Elara knew she could never see the book, or her childhood, the same way again. The Enchanted Forest, alive with the legacy of her grandmother's imagination, would forever be a sanctuary for her soul, a hidden world where every leaf and whisper echoed with the magic of their unbreakable bond.
“The Enchanted Forest” seems to be a common feature with these AI tales

However, it allows you to change the tone of voice from neutral to rebellious, or even to a multi-tonal style incorporating three dimensions. There is also the capability to target specific audiences, whether they are nostalgic readers or creative writers. When kept neutral with a broad audience, it produced a similar copy, characterized by the repetition of names and overly flowery language. Nevertheless, the story was creative but seemed to heavily favor the fantasy genre.

Using other filters, it generated a tale almost identical to the first, including the same phrases such as “The Enchanted Forest,” “newfound,” “intertwining,” and “grandmother.” It’s quite apparent that it has a defined notion of what constitutes a childhood book.

Amelia had always found solace in the faded pages of The Enchanted Forest, a book her grandmother gifted her on her seventh birthday. As years passed, the spine cracked, and pages yellowed, but the stories held within remained vibrant in Amelia's heart. Now, at twenty-five, she stumbled upon the book in her attic, a wave of nostalgia washing over her.Opening the book to her favorite tale, Amelia was stunned as a soft, radiant glow enveloped her, pulling her into the world she had only ever visited in her dreams. She found herself in the very forest she had imagined countless times, only it was more vivid than she could have fathomed. The trees whispered secrets of ancient magic in the breeze, and mythical creatures roamed freely. Unicorns grazed near crystal-clear and fairies danced under the moonlight, their laughter as musical as the wind through the leaves. As Amelia wandered, awe-struck, she experienced an overwhelming sense of belonging. This hidden world, nestled within the confines of her cherished book, was as familiar to her as it was fantastical. However, her wonder was laced with a tinge of sorrow, realizing that her younger self had clung to these tales as an escape from loneliness. Exploring further, Amelia stumbled upon a cottage that bore an uncanny resemblance to her grandmother's house. Inside, she discovered a note addressed to her in her grandmother's handwriting, revealing that she had once ventured into this magical world herself. The realization hit Amelia; the stories weren't just tales, they were memories, passed down through generations. This hidden world didn't change Amelia's perspective on the book; it deepened it, intertwining her own experiences with those of her grandmother's. The book was no longer an escape but a bridge connecting her to her past, reminding her that magic existed in her reality, not just in the pages of The Enchanted Forest. She emerged from the adventure with a newfound appreciation for her childhood, understanding that the magic she longed for had been within her all along, inherited and shared in stories told from one generation to the next.
ChatGPT-3 is known to repeat certain words such as ‘intertwine’ and ‘realm’

The Starter plan with one seat costs $39 per month paid annually. The Data-Driven plan costs $79/month, and the Business plan is $349 per month.

Writesonic

Writesonic is another free AI writing tool, with an interface comparable to ChatGPT as it has a dark left-hand side panel. Like Copy.ai, the unpaid version is powered by ChatGPT-3.5 among others, but has better billing options than OpenAI. The company states that it is “agnostic” about using a variety of LLMs.

“Our proprietary AI Model Gateway, called GPT Router dynamically routes between multiple AI models, thus speeding up responses and ensuring the best quality output as well as non-stop reliability,” it says on its website. These include Meta’s LLama and Google’s Gemini models.

Free AI writing app Writesonic: A Nostalgic Journey to WhimsydaleIn the quiet corner of an old, musty attic, nestled among a sea of forgotten treasures, Sam stumbled upon the tattered remains of his favorite childhood book, "The Adventures of Whimsydale." Its pages, once vibrant with life, were now frayed at the edges, but to Sam, they still whispered promises of the magical world within. As he opened the book, a kaleidoscope of colors burst forth, enveloping him in a whirlwind that danced to the rhythm of his childhood laughter. When the colors settled, Sam found himself standing in the heart of Whimsydale, a realm more vivid than any dream. Glistening meadows stretched towards the horizon, where trees bore fruits of every imaginable flavor. The sky was painted with the soft light of twin suns, casting a perpetual golden hour over the land. The inhabitants, a collection of whimsical creatures – talking animals in waistcoats, fairies with iridescent wings, and sentient clouds – welcomed him with open arms as if he had never left. Sam's heart swelled with a cocktail of nostalgia and wonder as he frolicked with his once-imaginary friends. But as he ventured deeper, he discovered a hidden chapter, pages he never remembered. It revealed that Whimsydale was not just a figment of fiction, but a reflection of his inner child's creativity and hope. Sam realized his childhood innocence had crafted this world, and with age, he had unknowingly sealed it away within the book. The revelation shattered the walls between his past and present, merging them in a beautiful symphony. With a renewed sense of purpose, Sam vowed to keep the whimsy of Whimsydale alive, not just within the worn pages but in every step he took in the 'real' world, embracing the childlike wonder he had thought lost forever.
Writesonic has an almost identical interface to ChatGPT bar the brand colors

The AI article writer can create long-form content pieces and includes a chatbot assistant named Chatsonic. When tested with a text prompt, it produced a slightly more imaginative story, making it more reliable than other tools.

Although there is a free version, Chatsonic costs $12 per month when paid annually and claims to offer output quality comparable to GPT-4 and Claude 3 Opus. The individual plan costs $16 and includes additional features such as an SEO optimizer, plagiarism checker, and a tool for facts and citations.

Rytr

Rytr, with a name that phonetically resembles “writer,” adopts a no-nonsense approach by featuring a straightforward interface like that of a writing pad. That being said, it still allows users to select the tone and use case of the output. Using the “story plot” function, it produced a tale almost identical to one by Anyword.

Rytr: As Amelia traced the worn pages of her dog-eared copy of "The Enchanted Forest," a strange sensation overcame her. The familiar illustrations seemed to shimmer, the colors becoming richer and more vibrant. Suddenly, the binding cracked open, and Amelia found herself tumbling headfirst into the pages. She landed with a thud on a lush, mossy forest floor, the scent of pine and wildflowers filling the air. Towering trees stretched up toward a brilliant azure sky, their branches rustling gently. In the distance, Amelia could hear the babbling of a creek and the chirping of unseen birds. Amelia's heart raced as she took in her surroundings, a potent mix of wonder and nostalgia washing over her. This was the world she had so vividly imagined as a child, the one she had escaped to when reality became too much to bear. And now, she was actually here, her fingers running over the velvety petals of flowers she had once only seen on the page. As Amelia ventured deeper into the forest, she encountered a cast of peculiar characters - a wise old owl, a mischievous fox, and a family of friendly woodland sprites. Each interaction stirred up a flurry of memories, both joyful and bittersweet. Had these characters been there all along, waiting for her to return? Just as Amelia began to lose herself in the magic of this hidden realm, a brilliant flash of light drew her gaze upward. There, suspended in the air, was the book she had entered, its pages fluttering as if beckoning her back. With a heavy heart, Amelia knew her time in this enchanted world had come to an end. But as she stepped back through the binding, she carried with her a renewed appreciation for the power of imagination - and the enduring magic of childhood.
Amelia and “The Enchanted Forest” made a comeback with Rytr

Not only did “Amelia” have a copy of “The Enchanted Forest,” but she also showed a penchant for streams and creeks. Hence, it is obvious that Rytr also uses ChatGPT-3 for its content writing.

Rytr is free to use, with unlimited queries available for $7.50 per month. In comparison, ChatGPT-4 costs $20 per month currently. The difference is that Rytr offers other features such as a plagiarism checker and SEO toolkit.

The new iPad ad essentially flips AI-weary creatives the bird
a frame from the Apple

Is it true that all press is good press, or is Apple's latest iPad ad — involving a different kind of press — a poorly timed misstep that could actually cost Apple the business of AI-weary creatives?

Because right now, creatives are expressing their distaste at the sight of their tools being cheerfully destroyed en masse in a hydraulic press to make way for a shiny new tablet. It may just be the exact wrong message at the exact wrong time.

Tweet may have been deleted

It's nothing new that some ads are irksome, and we all know that a hated ad isn't necessarily an ineffective one. When I was 12, there were these burger ads featuring people noisily mushing burgers into their hideous, up-close mouths, and sucking on their fingers like animals. The whole thing made me want to claw my eyes out. (They actually made a lot of people feel this way, I later learned.) But as my dad explained to me at the time, "The point is, they got your attention."

I heard the underlying message loud and clear: Companies don't have to pretend they respect their customers; they just have to get them to part with their money.

It's entirely possible that Apple will get customers to do just that. Yesterday, my colleague Chris Taylor pointed out that the top-of-the-line new iPad with all the peripherals adds up to a $3,000 package of gadgets, and that — sticker shock or no — it's tempting to fork it over for something this cool. But he also noted something that's key to that value proposition for him: The new iPad taps into his fantasies of personal creativity. "Apple knows our income is always a little more disposable if it can appeal to our wannabe genius," he wrote.

With that in mind, I urge you to watch the "Crush" ad one more time, and really contemplate what it's showing you:

All that stuff — the paint, the piano, the trumpet, the arcade machine, the illustrator's table — do you feel any hostility toward it? Do you want to see it destroyed and symbolically turned into an Apple device? Does it give you any satisfaction to see record players annihilated, and cameras all squished, and crumbly, and exploding?

And to switch things around a bit, take a look at your nearest Apple device and think about the last time you fantasized about that thing getting crushed. Was it yesterday? Maybe it was five minutes ago. In any case, you probably like it less than you like, say, your guitar.

Almost exactly 40 years ago, Apple released its most famous ad, "1984," in which a monochrome society of shambling drones is under the spell of some kind of computerized dictator. The prisoners of this terrible society are then liberated from their monotony by a hammer-throwing savior representing the Macintosh computer, and a glorious, colorful future is unleashed.

Fast forward 40 years, and Apple is the most valuable company in the world, releasing a commercial in which symbols of creativity, color, joy, human passion, and playfulness are piled into the center of a grey concrete void, and crushed by an industrial machine until they become a little Apple-branded rectangle.

The message is not playing well.

Tweet may have been deleted

And the timing couldn't be worse. Apple is, at long last, pleasing Wall Street by pivoting to AI — even going so far as to ramp up development of a new AI cloud infrastructure project made of its own proprietary chips. As Apple CEO Tim Cook said on an earnings call last week, Apple "believe[s] in the transformative power and promise of AI, and we believe we have advantages that will differentiate us in this new era."

To that end, yesterday's iPad event contained more usage of the term "AI" than any Apple product presentation in recent memory. AI enhancements are suddenly being injected into Apple creative tools like Photomator, with its ML Enhance tool, and a new Isolate Subjects option in Final Cut Pro.

No two ways about it: Apple is now an AI company. And with this ad, Apple seems to be blaring that message from a loudspeaker, perhaps a little more loudly than it even intended. Members of the public seeing "Crush" seem to be slowly coming to terms with that eerie new reality.

Tweet may have been deleted

The same year Apple released its "1984" ad, a little movie called The Terminator debuted, and the folks at Apple may want to take another look at it — or at least (spoiler alert) its final moments. At its core, The Terminator is a love story about the essential qualities of humanity prevailing over artificial intelligence. Was it the concept of love that James Cameron put in a hydraulic press at the finale? Was it creativity? Joy? Passion? No. The movie spoke to humanity's id, because the cathartic ending of The Terminator is the moment when the hideous artificially intelligent machine got crushed.

That's the act of creative destruction people will always want to see, and if you're a technology company right now, it's probably a good idea to keep that in mind.

Where to pre-order the new Apple Pencil Pro
Birds' eye view of person drawing on iPad with Apple Pencil with backpack, lamp, and desk in peripherals

UPDATE: May. 8, 2024, 3:10 p.m. EDT This story has been updated with new preorder listings at Target and Walmart.

Where to pre-order the new Apple Pencil Pro:

May 7 marks the last leg of the Apple product drop trifecta that started in the fall of 2023. After getting new iPhones, new Apple Watches, and new MacBooks, just one major Apple product category was left ripe for a refresh this spring. And Apple went hard not only with a new iPad Pro and Air, but with the accessory that fuels the entire iPad experience: the Apple Pencil.

After almost a decade of existence, the Apple Pencil has finally been initiated into Apple's "Pro" club. Rather than the one or two small tweaks of Apple Pencil upgrades past, the Apple Pencil Pro has been entirely redesigned with a suite of new ways to bring ideas to life — and keep up with that M4 chip. It doesn't start shipping until May 15, but you can pre-order it now through the Apple Store, Amazon, Best Buy, B&H Photo, Target, and Walmart.

A light squeeze of the Pencil Pro pops up a palette to swiftly switch between tools, line weights, and colors, while a slight rotation while holding the Pencil Pro activates barrel roll: a built-in gyroscope that reacts immediately for intuitive, precise control of pen shapes, brush tips, or animation movements. Custom interactions can also be programmed.

Control of your project is taken even further with a hover feature that allows you to target actions without even touching the screen, like previewing a line before it's drawn or switching between a pile of layers in Final Cut Pro without making a wrong move. Haptic feedback has also been enhanced to tip you off when a new layer is, in fact, perfectly in the middle.

SEE ALSO: Apple iPad Pro 2024: Thinner and lighter than ever, with M4 chip inside

As always, the Apple Pencil Pro charges and stores magnetically to the side of your iPad. If it falls off in transit, no worries: it's the first Apple Pencil to support Find My.

Despite "Pro" being tacked onto the name, Apple isn't gatekeeping the Apple Pencil Pro just for iPad Pro users. iPad Air users can also opt to experience the magic of the Pro. And there's little reason to not make that bump: Despite so many revolutionary changes, the Apple Pencil Pro retails for $129, the same debut price as the second-gen Apple Pencil from several years ago.

Render (RNDR) Price Prediction 2024 – Next AI Crypto to Watch?
Render (RNDR) Price Prediction 2024 - Next AI Crypto to Watch?

Render (RNDR) outperformed other top AI cryptos in the last seven days with an impressive 40% pump. While other notable AI coins such as NEAR, GRT, and TAO also experienced gains, their rallies were more modest, ranging from 15% to 25%.

This rally in AI-focused cryptocurrencies has been accompanied by a surge in the stock price of Nvidia (NVDA), a Nasdaq-listed chipmaker widely considered the poster child for AI technology. As the demand for AI-related products and services continues to grow, Nvidia’s hardware solutions have become increasingly valuable, driving up its stock price.

RNDR Price Prediction: Breaking Out of the Descending Channel

On the RNDR/USDT chart, we can observe that after hitting a 2024 yearly high of around $13.8, RNDR started trading within a descending channel, marked by blue lines on the chart below.

However, following this most recent pump, RNDR broke out of this channel and surpassed the $10 resistance level, where the price was previously rejected in late April. At the time of writing, RNDR is trading around $10.6.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) currently stands at 66, indicating that the asset is in overbought territory, which could suggest a potential pullback or consolidation in the near future.

Render price chart

The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) line is now below the MACD signal line, signaling a potential bearish crossover. This could indicate that the current uptrend might be losing momentum, and a reversal or correction could be on the horizon.

Additionally, the 200-day moving average (MA) is currently at $5.9. This long-term MA serves as a crucial support level, and if RNDR manages to hold above this level, it could indicate a bullish continuation of the uptrend.

Given the recent breakout from the descending channel and the surpassing of the $10 resistance level, Render token could potentially continue its upward trajectory in the short term. However, the overbought RSI and the potential bearish MACD crossover suggest that a pullback or consolidation phase might be necessary before any further significant gains.

If the RNDR price manages to hold above the 200-day MA of $5.9, it could find support and potentially aim for higher targets, such as the previous yearly (and all time) high of $13.8. Conversely, if the price fails to hold above the 200-day MA, it could potentially retest lower support levels.

Destiny 2 game screen with lasers

Destiny 2 players can take advantage of an offer for three of the game’s major expansions for a limited time.

Bungie announced that Expansion Open Access Month has kicked off. Players of the star-faring title can now access Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, The Witch Queen, and other Destiny-related content.

Bungie Expansion Open Access Month

Until June 3 free access to Destiny 2 content is available to all players, with PlayStation Plus members receiving access to the most recent expansion, Lightfall.

In addition to this offer, players can access Destiny Year 6 content, including Season of Defiance, Season of the Deep, Season of the Witch, and Season of the Wish.

Once players participate in the content, they will keep all the weapons and equipment they unlock during their progress.

The Lightfall + Annual Pass bundle is available for users via Destiny 2’s content catalog in Epic Games, Playstation, and Xbox stores. The paid-for-content hits Steam on May 21.

Expansion Open Access Month attempts to get Bungie’s players in the Destiny mood as the title ramps up to The Final Shape.

The Final Shape is Bungie’s culmination of the ten-year light and darkness saga. It was slightly delayed before being announced for a June 4, 2024 launch.

The story takes place in the Pale Heart of The Traveler, hunting for The Witness alongside classic characters of the Vanguard. The characters returning for the conclusion include cult classic Cayde-6, who has defied death to return to this narrative’s concluding conflict.

New gaming mechanics for the Final Shape include enhanced customization for subclasses and an all-new Prismatic subclass. You can cherrypick your favorite abilities from light and dark subclasses to make a hybrid role. Class-specific restrictions will be in place, but we’re looking forward to any chance to customize our general Destiny experience further.

A new enemy race known as the Dread, who embody The Witness, will test the Vanguard. Five types of Dread enemies will appear in the expansion: The Grim, The Husk, Attendants, Weavers, and Subjugators.

We have an immersive breakdown of what is coming to The Final Shape and more details about the enemies and the story so that those taking on the elusive Witness can get in the mood for the upcoming expansion.

US presidential candidate RFK to speak at crypto conference
A confident Robert F. Kennedy Jr. standing at a podium, passionately speaking about cryptocurrency, with a large Bitcoin logo projected on a screen behind him. The audience is filled with enthusiastic supporters waving pro-crypto banners.

Independent U.S. presidential candidate known for his pro-cryptocurrency stance Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is set to speak at the upcoming Consensus 2024 crypto conference in Austin, Texas.

Kennedy will explain his support for cryptocurrency and self-custody at the event, according to a press release from crypto news outlet and the event’s organizer Coindesk. He said:

I’m looking forward to speaking later this month at Consensus 2024. I am determined to keep America the world leader in blockchain innovation. […] We can’t allow hostile regulators to drive this technology abroad.

Kennedy — an environmental lawyer and member of the prominent Democratic Kennedy family — has taken a position on crypto much different from his Democratic counterparts. While many Democrats remain skeptical or opposed to cryptocurrencies, Kennedy has openly embraced them in his campaign. He recently has gone as far as vowing to back the dollar with Bitcoin (BTC) and exempt the cryptocurrency from taxes if elected.

A pro-crypto democrat?

Kennedy is polling significantly behind the presumptive Republican and Democratic candidates, Donald Trump and incumbent Joe Biden, respectively. Kennedy decided to run as an independent candidate after failing to gain traction in the Democratic primary.

The endorsement of cryptocurrency by a member of the Kennedy family, known for their strong Democratic roots, is a surprising piece of trivia. John F. Kennedy — the current candidate’s uncle — served as the U.S. president in the 1960s, while his father, Robert F. Kennedy, served as the U.S. Attorney General during that administration before running for president himself.

As the 2024 U.S. presidential election approaches, the topic of cryptocurrency has become increasingly politicized, with Republicans generally being more pro-crypto compared to Democrats. Current United States President Joe Biden caused an outcry from the crypto industry with a recently proposed 30% tax on crypto mining power and faced criticism for potentially harming the industry and erasing investor wealth.

Crypto has seen increasing pressure from United States regulators over the past years. At the end of 2023, United States publicly traded exchange Coinbase petitioned the SEC for crypto-specific rules that would make it clearer what is expected from crypto companies — but the regulator rejected the request.

Apple unveils iPad with AI capabilities and ‘outrageously powerful’ M4 chip
Apple unveils iPad with AI capabilities and 'outrageously powerful' M4 chip. Apple's M4 chip, beside new iPad Pro and iPad Air

Apple has revealed its new iPad Air with AI capabilities, which they say is “more powerful and versatile than ever”.

During a pre-recorded live stream from its headquarters in Cupertino, California, the company unveiled the newest iterations of its iPad Pro and iPad Air tablets, along with the introduction of the brand-new Apple Pencil Pro.

CEO Tim Cook said on Tuesday (May 7), that it was “the biggest day for iPad since its introduction.”

The centerpiece of the new iPad Pro is Apple’s freshly designed M4 processor, boasting four times the performance of its predecessors. Notably, while Apple’s current MacBook lineup uses the M3 chip, CEO Cook stated that it was an “outrageously powerful chip for AI.”

The company is anticipated to unveil its initial set of AI tools for the iPhone and iPad at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference in June. However, it remains uncertain which AI capabilities the new M4 chips could enable.

What features do the new Apple products have?

Apple announced that the iPad Pro, its premium model, will feature upgraded displays and will start at $1,000 for the 11-inch (27.9-centimeter) variant and $1,300 for the 13-inch model.

It also introduced new versions of its mid-range iPad Air, now available in a larger 13-inch screen size priced at $800, along with the existing 11-inch option, which previously retailed at $600. These tablets are equipped with Apple’s M2 chip, which was first introduced in Apple’s MacBooks in 2022.

The remarkably thin and powerful all-new iPad Pro takes a huge leap forward with the Ultra Retina XDR display, powerful M4 chip, and support for the all-new Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard. It’s available to order starting today! pic.twitter.com/zzrNT6civ5

— Greg Joswiak (@gregjoz) May 7, 2024

Johny Srouji, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Technologies said that the power-efficient performance of its AI M4 chip, along with its new display engine, makes the thin design and game-changing display of iPad Pro possible. Fundamental improvements to the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, and memory system make M4 “extremely well suited” for the latest applications leveraging AI. He added: “Altogether, this new chip makes iPad Pro the most powerful device of its kind.”

Meanwhile, an upgraded Apple Pencil now features a new squeeze function, enabling users to access tools, customize drawing layers, and receive haptic feedback while working. It also supports Find My, assisting in locating the pencil if it gets misplaced. It will retail for $129.

iPad sales dropped 10 per cent in 2023 to $6.44 billion, while Mac revenue declined 34 per cent to $7.61 billion. The products now jointly account for only 15 per cent of Apple’s total sales – down significantly in recent years. Services have rapidly grown to represent a much larger business for Apple. The tech giant also reported last week a first-quarter revenue of $90.8 billion, down 4 per cent year over year.

Where to find G-Rock in Hades 2
A screenshot from Hades 2

Sounding a bit like a semi-famous rapper, G-Rock is currently one of the most sought-after items in the early access versions of Hades 2 at the moment. The game has a few rare resources that your run can depend on, and knowing at least where they are beforehand can make a lot of difference in a playthrough.

As G-Rock – or Glassrock to give it its proper name is so tricky to get your hellish hands on, let’s wander out there together and see if we can make it any easier for you.

How to get G Rock

Right, don’t be thinking this is going to be easy because it is not going to be. You have two bosses to defeat en route and even if you have panicked and activated God Mode this is not a day trip.

G-Rock or Glassrock is found in veins in the Mourning Fields. When you eventually get there you are looking for sharp, black rock coming out of the ground. Presumably, it is Obsidian as that is a naturally occurring volcanic glass. Presumably, somebody thought G Rock sounded way cooler.

Before you even get to the Mourning Fields though you will encounter, and have to defeat the Scylla and the Sirens boss (that sounds like an awful 80s band name).

For every vein you found you can farm three pieces of G-Rock and if you are struggling to find it, use the the Reagent Sensing incantation before you set out and it will tip you off with an audible alert when any is close by.

What is G Rock?

When you start out a new game of Hades 2 a total of four of the game’s five weapons are available to you. The fifth, the Argent Skull is not. To craft it you need a little sprinkling of G Rock, and therefore finding it is essential to complete your arsenal.

‘Feel the burn’ marketing tag ages very poorly — and very quickly — following Xbox studio closures
Microsoft retracts controversial Xbox controller 'Feel the Burn' tagline amid studio closures. Xbox controller shows orange fire design on gamepad.

Microsoft has changed the tagline for a new Xbox wireless controller due to significant backlash after it closed down four studios.

The tagline “Feel the Burn Today” appeared in a Xbox blog post for the new Fire Vapor Special Edition Controller right around the time Microsoft itself reported that it would be closing four games development studios. Social media users immediately noted the poor timing, and Microsoft backtracked in acknowledgement of it.

So Microsoft changed the word “feel the burn today” to hold onto the heat 🤣🤣🤣

On May 7, Xbox Game Studios announced the closure of Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks and the loss of all jobs there. Two other studios were shuttered, according to an email Matt Booty, the head of Xbox Game Studios, sent to employees.

pic.twitter.com/KhhqgR902g

— Tango Gameworks (EN) (@TangoGameworks) May 7, 2024

The closure has resulted in the cancellation of post-launch support for Redfall, including any DLC expansions. However, Arkane Studios, headquartered in Lyon, France, will continue to operate. The supernatural shooter launched by Arkane Austin in May 2023 is officially done and will not receive any post-launch support, including the two DLC characters that Xbox had promised at the time of release.

After unveiling the new game controller and publishing the tagline, Microsoft discreetly updated the Xbox Wire blog post for the controller. The original title, “Feel the Burn Today with the Fire Vapor Special Edition Controller,” was changed to a more generic one announcing a new color variant in the ongoing Vapor series of Xbox wireless controllers.

Microsoft is among several companies that have made major layoffs in its gaming division, cutting around 1,900 workers from its Xbox, Activision Blizzard, and ZeniMax teams in January.

Anger in the gaming industry

Shortly after the news broke, Arkane Lyon boss Dinga Bakaba shared an impassioned thread, describing the situation as “a f***ing gut stab”. He added: “Don’t throw us into gold fever gambits, don’t use us as strawmen for miscalculations/blind spots, don’t make our work environments darwinist jungles.”

This is absolutely terrible. Permission to be human : to any executive reading this, friendly reminder that video games are an entertainment/cultural industry, and your business as a corporation is to take care of your artists/entertainers and help them create value for you.

Booming Covid-era tech stocks see $1.5tn market value loss
A person training on a fitness bike whilst home working on a laptop

According to S&P Global’s market data, 50 of the biggest companies of the pandemic era are showing a collective loss of $1.5tn.

As reported via the Financial Times, companies like Zoom, a powerhouse in the early and mid-pandemic era, recording substantial growth, have now witnessed a fall in company share value.

Many top pandemic-era stocks show market value losses

The fall in market value is dominated by the tailing of remote working to the levels required during the pandemic.

Major companies from that era have watched the worth of their offerings lessen.  Economists had forecast this waning of growth, given the rampant growth some of these companies had seen in a short space of time due to national and global demands for their services.

Steven Blitz, chief US economist at TS Lombard, a world-renowned leader in economic forecasting, told the FT “Some companies probably thought that shock was going to be permanent. Now they’re getting a painful bounceback from that.”

Ring Central, the video and cloud-based digital company has seen its value dip 90 percent compared to its domination alongside other remote technology providers.

Zoom, which was ever-present in every remote working household, saw its shares rise to an astronomical 765 percent during COVID-19. The climbdown has been anticipated due to untenable levels of sustained growth, but Zoom stocks have faltered by 80 percent. This is the equivalent of a $77bn decline since the end of 2020, according to Bloomberg data compared by the FT.

Barry McCarthy, the CEO of Peleton, another winner in remote fitness technology during the pandemic, announced he would step down. This comes in light of the company’s dip in market value, leading to the shedding of 400 workers and around $49bn in market cap losses.

Similarly, the electric car manufacturer Tesla has seen a market value decline of over $100 bn since December 2020. Due to internal turmoil and less-than-favorable global sales, Elon Musk’s company’s fate has been a significant talking point over the past year.

Musk’s company slashed the price of its marquee vehicles, announced multiple job cuts, and faced multiple executives’ handing in their resignations.

So the winners of the boom period of the pandemic are facing new challenges as the world has adapted to blended working scenarios and is less reliant on the staples of that challenging era. The market is reflecting these paradigm shifts and in response, these companies are pivoting to avoid further losses.

What is Blockchain: Everything You Need to Know (2022)
What is Blockchain

If you want to pay online, you need to register an account and provide credit card information. If you don't have a credit card, you can pay with bank transfer. With the rise of cryptocurrencies, these methods may become old.

Imagine a world in which you can do transactions and many other things without having to give your personal information. A world in which you don’t need to rely on banks or governments anymore. Sounds amazing, right? That’s exactly what blockchain technology allows us to do.

It’s like your computer’s hard drive. blockchain is a technology that lets you store data in digital blocks, which are connected together like links in a chain.

Blockchain technology was originally invented in 1991 by two mathematicians, Stuart Haber and W. Scot Stornetta. They first proposed the system to ensure that timestamps could not be tampered with.

A few years later, in 1998, software developer Nick Szabo proposed using a similar kind of technology to secure a digital payments system he called “Bit Gold.” However, this innovation was not adopted until Satoshi Nakamoto claimed to have invented the first Blockchain and Bitcoin.

So, What is Blockchain?

A blockchain is a distributed database shared between the nodes of a computer network. It saves information in digital format. Many people first heard of blockchain technology when they started to look up information about bitcoin.

Blockchain is used in cryptocurrency systems to ensure secure, decentralized records of transactions.

Blockchain allowed people to guarantee the fidelity and security of a record of data without the need for a third party to ensure accuracy.

To understand how a blockchain works, Consider these basic steps:

  • Blockchain collects information in “blocks”.
  • A block has a storage capacity, and once it's used up, it can be closed and linked to a previously served block.
  • Blocks form chains, which are called “Blockchains.”
  • More information will be added to the block with the most content until its capacity is full. The process repeats itself.
  • Each block in the chain has an exact timestamp and can't be changed.

Let’s get to know more about the blockchain.

How does blockchain work?

Blockchain records digital information and distributes it across the network without changing it. The information is distributed among many users and stored in an immutable, permanent ledger that can't be changed or destroyed. That's why blockchain is also called "Distributed Ledger Technology" or DLT.

Here’s how it works:

  • Someone or a computer will transacts
  • The transaction is transmitted throughout the network.
  • A network of computers can confirm the transaction.
  • When it is confirmed a transaction is added to a block
  • The blocks are linked together to create a history.

And that’s the beauty of it! The process may seem complicated, but it’s done in minutes with modern technology. And because technology is advancing rapidly, I expect things to move even more quickly than ever.

  • A new transaction is added to the system. It is then relayed to a network of computers located around the world. The computers then solve equations to ensure the authenticity of the transaction.
  • Once a transaction is confirmed, it is placed in a block after the confirmation. All of the blocks are chained together to create a permanent history of every transaction.

How are Blockchains used?

Even though blockchain is integral to cryptocurrency, it has other applications. For example, blockchain can be used for storing reliable data about transactions. Many people confuse blockchain with cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and ethereum.

Blockchain already being adopted by some big-name companies, such as Walmart, AIG, Siemens, Pfizer, and Unilever. For example, IBM's Food Trust uses blockchain to track food's journey before reaching its final destination.

Although some of you may consider this practice excessive, food suppliers and manufacturers adhere to the policy of tracing their products because bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella have been found in packaged foods. In addition, there have been isolated cases where dangerous allergens such as peanuts have accidentally been introduced into certain products.

Tracing and identifying the sources of an outbreak is a challenging task that can take months or years. Thanks to the Blockchain, however, companies now know exactly where their food has been—so they can trace its location and prevent future outbreaks.

Blockchain technology allows systems to react much faster in the event of a hazard. It also has many other uses in the modern world.

What is Blockchain Decentralization?

Blockchain technology is safe, even if it’s public. People can access the technology using an internet connection.

Have you ever been in a situation where you had all your data stored at one place and that one secure place got compromised? Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to prevent your data from leaking out even when the security of your storage systems is compromised?

Blockchain technology provides a way of avoiding this situation by using multiple computers at different locations to store information about transactions. If one computer experiences problems with a transaction, it will not affect the other nodes.

Instead, other nodes will use the correct information to cross-reference your incorrect node. This is called “Decentralization,” meaning all the information is stored in multiple places.

Blockchain guarantees your data's authenticity—not just its accuracy, but also its irreversibility. It can also be used to store data that are difficult to register, like legal contracts, state identifications, or a company's product inventory.

Pros and Cons of Blockchain

Blockchain has many advantages and disadvantages.

Pros

  • Accuracy is increased because there is no human involvement in the verification process.
  • One of the great things about decentralization is that it makes information harder to tamper with.
  • Safe, private, and easy transactions
  • Provides a banking alternative and safe storage of personal information

Cons

  • Data storage has limits.
  • The regulations are always changing, as they differ from place to place.
  • It has a risk of being used for illicit activities

Frequently Asked Questions About Blockchain

I’ll answer the most frequently asked questions about blockchain in this section.

Is Blockchain a cryptocurrency?

Blockchain is not a cryptocurrency but a technology that makes cryptocurrencies possible. It's a digital ledger that records every transaction seamlessly.

Is it possible for Blockchain to be hacked?

Yes, blockchain can be theoretically hacked, but it is a complicated task to be achieved. A network of users constantly reviews it, which makes hacking the blockchain difficult.

What is the most prominent blockchain company?

Coinbase Global is currently the biggest blockchain company in the world. The company runs a commendable infrastructure, services, and technology for the digital currency economy.

Who owns Blockchain?

Blockchain is a decentralized technology. It’s a chain of distributed ledgers connected with nodes. Each node can be any electronic device. Thus, one owns blockhain.

What is the difference between Bitcoin and Blockchain technology?

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, which is powered by Blockchain technology while Blockchain is a distributed ledger of cryptocurrency

What is the difference between Blockchain and a Database?

Generally a database is a collection of data which can be stored and organized using a database management system. The people who have access to the database can view or edit the information stored there. The client-server network architecture is used to implement databases. whereas a blockchain is a growing list of records, called blocks, stored in a distributed system. Each block contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, timestamp and transaction information. Modification of data is not allowed due to the design of the blockchain. The technology allows decentralized control and eliminates risks of data modification by other parties.

Final Saying

Blockchain has a wide spectrum of applications and, over the next 5-10 years, we will likely see it being integrated into all sorts of industries. From finance to healthcare, blockchain could revolutionize the way we store and share data. Although there is some hesitation to adopt blockchain systems right now, that won't be the case in 2022-2023 (and even less so in 2026). Once people become more comfortable with the technology and understand how it can work for them, owners, CEOs and entrepreneurs alike will be quick to leverage blockchain technology for their own gain. Summarizing the Ginger VS Grammarly: My Recommendation

As both writing assistants are great in their own way, you need to choose the one that suits you best.

  • For example, go for Grammarly  if you are a non-fiction writer
  • Go for ProWritingAid if you are a fiction writer.
  • ProWritingAid is better at catching errors found in long-form content. However, Grammarly is more suited to short blog posts and other similar tasks.
  • ProWritingAid helps you clean up your writing by checking for style, structure, and content while Grammarly focuses on grammar and punctuation.
  • Grammarly has a more friendly UI/UX whereas; ProWritingAid offers complete feedback on big picture writing.

Both ProWritingAid and Grammarly are awesome writing tools, without a doubt. but as per my experience, Grammarly is a winner here because Grammarly helps you to review and edit your content. Grammarly highlights all the mistakes in your writing within seconds of copying and pasting the content into Grammarly’s editor or using the software’s native feature in other text editors.

Not only does it identify tiny grammatical and spelling errors, it tells you when you overlook punctuations where they are needed. And, beyond its plagiarism-checking capabilities, Grammarly helps you proofread your content. Even better, the software offers a free plan that gives you access to some of its features.

Sellfy Review 2022: How Good Is This Ecommerce Platform?

Sellfy

Are you searching for an ecomerce platform to help you build an online store and sell products?

In this Sellfy review, we'll talk about how this eCommerce platform can let you sell digital products while keeping full control of your marketing.

And the best part? Starting your business can be done in just five minutes.

Let us then talk about the Sellfy platform and all the benefits it can bring to your business.

What is Sellfy?

Sellfy is an eCommerce solution that allows digital content creators, including writers, illustrators, designers, musicians, and filmmakers, to sell their products online. Sellfy provides a customizable storefront where users can display their digital products and embed "Buy Now" buttons on their website or blog. Sellfy product pages enable users to showcase their products from different angles with multiple images and previews from Soundcloud, Vimeo, and YouTube. Files of up to 2GB can be uploaded to Sellfy, and the company offers unlimited bandwidth and secure file storage. Users can also embed their entire store or individual project widgets in their site, with the ability to preview how widgets will appear before they are displayed.

Features

Sellfy includes:

Online Store

Sellfy is a powerful e-commerce platform that helps you personalize your online storefront. You can add your logo, change colors, revise navigation, and edit the layout of your store. Sellfy also allows you to create a full shopping cart so customers can purchase multiple items. And Sellfy gives you the ability to set your language or let customers see a translated version of your store based on their location.

Sellfy gives you the option to host your store directly on its platform, add a custom domain to your store, and use it as an embedded storefront on your website. Sellfy also optimizes its store offerings for mobile devices, allowing for a seamless checkout experience.

Product hosting

Sellfy allows creators to host all their products and sell all of their digital products on one platform. Sellfy also does not place storage limits on your store but recommends that files be no larger than 5GB. Creators can sell both standard and subscription-based products in any file format that is supported by the online marketplace. Customers can purchase products instantly after making a purchase – there is no waiting period.

You can organize your store by creating your product categories, sorting by any characteristic you choose. Your title, description, and the image will be included on each product page. In this way, customers can immediately evaluate all of your products. You can offer different pricing options for all of your products, including "pay what you want," in which the price is entirely up to the customer. This option allows you to give customers control over the cost of individual items (without a minimum price) or to set pricing minimums—a good option if you're in a competitive market or when you have higher-end products. You can also offer set prices per product as well as free products to help build your store's popularity.

Sellfy is ideal for selling digital content, such as ebooks. But it does not allow you to copyrighted material (that you don't have rights to distribute).

Embed options

Sellfy offers several ways to share your store, enabling you to promote your business on different platforms. Sellfy lets you integrate it with your existing website using "buy now" buttons, embed your entire storefront, or embed certain products so you can reach more people. Sellfy also enables you to connect with your Facebook page and YouTube channel, maximizing your visibility.

Payments and security

Sellfy is a simple online platform that allows customers to buy your products directly through your store. Sellfy has two payment processing options: PayPal and Stripe. You will receive instant payments with both of these processors, and your customer data is protected by Sellfy's secure (PCI-compliant) payment security measures. In addition to payment security, Sellfy provides anti-fraud tools to help protect your products including PDF stamping, unique download links, and limited download attempts.

Marketing and analytics tools

The Sellfy platform includes marketing and analytics tools to help you manage your online store. You can send email product updates and collect newsletter subscribers through the platform. With Sellfy, you can also offer discount codes and product upsells, as well as create and track Facebook and Twitter ads for your store. The software's analytics dashboard will help you track your best-performing products, generated revenue, traffic channels, top locations, and overall store performance.

Integrations

To expand functionality and make your e-commerce store run more efficiently, Sellfy offers several integrations. Google Analytics and Webhooks, as well as integrations with Patreon and Facebook Live Chat, are just a few of the options available. Sellfy allows you to connect to Zapier, which gives you access to hundreds of third-party apps, including tools like Mailchimp, Trello, Salesforce, and more.

  • Sellfy provides unlimited support.
  • Sellfy provides simple and intuitive tax and VAT configuration settings.
  • Marketing strategies include coupons, email marketing, upselling, tracking pixels, and cart abandonment.

Cons

  • Although the free plan is helpful, but it limits you to only 10 products.
  • Payment plans often require an upgrade if you exceed a certain sales amount per year.
  • The storefront designs are clean, but they're not unique templates for creating a completely different brand image.
  • Sellfy's branding is removed from your hosted product when you upgrade to the $49 per month Business plan.
  • The free plan does not allow for selling digital or subscription products.

Conclusion

In this article, we have taken a look at some of the biggest benefits associated with using sellfy for eCommerce. Once you compare these benefits to what you get with other platforms such as Shopify, you should find that it is worth your time to consider sellfy for your business. After reading this article all of your questions will be solved but if you have still some questions let me know in the comment section below, I will be happy to answer your questions.

SEMrush and Ahrefs are among the most popular tools in the SEO industry. Both companies have been in business for years and have thousands of customers per month.

If you're a professional SEO or trying to do digital marketing on your own, at some point you'll likely consider using a tool to help with your efforts. Ahrefs and SEMrush are two names that will likely appear on your shortlist.

The company was founded in 2010, and it has become a popular choice among SEO tools. • JavaScript rendering and a site audit can identify SEO issues.
  • A question explorer that provides well-crafted topic suggestions

Direct Comparisons: Ahrefs vs SEMrush

Now that you know a little more about each tool, let's take a look at how they compare. I'll analyze each tool to see how they differ in interfaces, keyword research resources, rank tracking, and competitor analysis.

User Interface

Ahrefs and SEMrush both offer comprehensive information and quick metrics regarding your website's SEO performance. However, Ahrefs takes a bit more of a hands-on approach to getting your account fully set up, whereas SEMrush's simpler dashboard can give you access to the data you need quickly.

In this section, we provide a brief overview of the elements found on each dashboard and highlight the ease with which you can complete tasks.

AHREFS

ahrefs interface

The Ahrefs dashboard is less cluttered than that of SEMrush, and its primary menu is at the very top of the page, with a search bar designed only for entering URLs.

Additional features of the Ahrefs platform include:

  • You can see analytics from the dashboard, including search engine rankings to domain ratings, referring domains, and backlink
  • Jumping from one tool to another is easy. You can use the Keyword Explorer to find a keyword to target and then directly track your ranking with one click.
  • The website offers a tooltip helper tool that allows you to hover your mouse over something that isn't clear and get an in-depth explanation.

SEMRUSH

semrush domain overview

When you log into the SEMrush Tool, you will find four main modules. These include information about your domains, organic keyword analysis, ad keyword, and site traffic.

You'll also find some other options like

  • A search bar allows you to enter a domain, keyword, or anything else you wish to explore.
  • A menu on the left side of the page provides quick links to relevant information, including marketing insights, projects, keyword analytics, and more.
  • The customer support resources located directly within the dashboard can be used to communicate with the support team or to learn about other resources such as webinars and blogs.
  • Detailed descriptions of every resource offered. This detail is beneficial for new marketers, who are just starting.

WHO WINS?

Both Ahrefs and SEMrush have user-friendly dashboards, but Ahrefs is less cluttered and easier to navigate. On the other hand, SEMrush offers dozens of extra tools, including access to customer support resources.

When deciding on which dashboard to use, consider what you value in the user interface, and test out both.

Rank Tracking

If you're looking to track your website's search engine ranking, rank tracking features can help. You can also use them to monitor your competitors.

Let's take a look at Ahrefs vs. SEMrush to see which tool does a better job.

Ahrefs

ahrefs rank tracking

The Ahrefs Rank Tracker is simpler to use. Just type in the domain name and keywords you want to analyze, and it spits out a report showing you the search engine results page (SERP) ranking for each keyword you enter.

Rank Tracker looks at the ranking performance of keywords and compares them with the top rankings for those keywords. Ahrefs also offers:

You'll see metrics that help you understand your visibility, traffic, average position, and keyword difficulty.

It gives you an idea of whether a keyword would be profitable to target or not.

SEMRUSH

semrush position tracking

SEMRush offers a tool called Position Tracking. This tool is a project tool—you must set it up as a new project. Below are a few of the most popular features of the SEMrush Position Tracking tool:

All subscribers are given regular data updates and mobile search rankings upon subscribing

The platform provides opportunities to track several SERP features, including Local tracking.

Intuitive reports allow you to track statistics for the pages on your website, as well as the keywords used in those pages.

Identify pages that may be competing with each other using the Cannibalization report.

WHO WINS?

Ahrefs is a more user-friendly option. It takes seconds to enter a domain name and keywords. From there, you can quickly decide whether to proceed with that keyword or figure out how to rank better for other keywords.

SEMrush allows you to check your mobile rankings and ranking updates daily, which is something Ahrefs does not offer. SEMrush also offers social media rankings, a tool you won't find within the Ahrefs platform. Both are good which one do you like let me know in the comment.

Keyword Research

Keyword research is closely related to rank tracking, but it's used for deciding which keywords you plan on using for future content rather than those you use now.

When it comes to SEO, keyword research is the most important thing to consider when comparing the two platforms.

AHREFS

The Ahrefs Keyword Explorer provides you with thousands of keyword ideas and filters search results based on the chosen search engine.

Ahrefs supports several features, including:

  • It can search multiple keywords in a single search and analyze them together. At SEMrush, you also have this feature in Keyword Overview.
  • Ahrefs has a variety of keywords for different search engines, including Google, YouTube, Amazon, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, and other search engines.
  • When you click on a keyword, you can see its search volume and keyword difficulty, but also other keywords related to it, which you didn't use.

SEMRUSH

SEMrush's Keyword Magic Tool has over 20 billion keywords for Google. You can type in any keyword you want, and a list of suggested keywords will appear.

The Keyword Magic Tool also lets you to:

  • Show performance metrics by keyword
  • Search results are based on both broad and exact keyword matches.
  • Show data like search volume, trends, keyword difficulty, and CPC.
  • Show the first 100 Google search results for any keyword.
  • Identify SERP Features and Questions related to each keyword
  • SEMrush has released a new Keyword Gap Tool that uncovers potentially useful keyword opportunities for you, including both paid and organic keywords.

WHO WINS?

Both of these tools offer keyword research features and allow users to break down complicated tasks into something that can be understood by beginners and advanced users alike.

If you're interested in keyword suggestions, SEMrush appears to have more keyword suggestions than Ahrefs does. It also continues to add new features, like the Keyword Gap tool and SERP Questions recommendations.

Competitor Analysis

Both platforms offer competitor analysis tools, eliminating the need to come up with keywords off the top of your head. Each tool is useful for finding keywords that will be useful for your competition so you know they will be valuable to you.

AHREFS

Ahrefs' domain comparison tool lets you compare up to five websites (your website and four competitors) side-by-side.it also shows you how your site is ranked against others with metrics such as backlinks, domain ratings, and more.

Use the Competing Domains section to see a list of your most direct competitors, and explore how many keywords matches your competitors have.

To find more information about your competitor, you can look at the Site Explorer and Content Explorer tools and type in their URL instead of yours.

SEMRUSH

SEMrush provides a variety of insights into your competitors' marketing tactics. The platform enables you to research your competitors effectively. It also offers several resources for competitor analysis including:

Traffic Analytics helps you identify where your audience comes from, how they engage with your site, what devices visitors use to view your site, and how your audiences overlap with other websites.

SEMrush's Organic Research examines your website's major competitors and shows their organic search rankings, keywords they are ranking for, and even if they are ranking for any (SERP) features and more.

The Market Explorer search field allows you to type in a domain and lists websites or articles similar to what you entered. Market Explorer also allows users to perform in-depth data analytics on These companies and markets.

WHO WINS?

SEMrush wins here because it has more tools dedicated to competitor analysis than Ahrefs. However, Ahrefs offers a lot of functionality in this area, too. It takes a combination of both tools to gain an advantage over your competition.

Pricing

Ahrefs

  • Lite Monthly: $99/month
  • Standard Monthly: $179/month
  • Annually Lite: $990/year
  • Annually Standard: $1790/year

SEMRUSH

  • Pro Plan: $119.95/month
  • Guru Plan:$229.95/month
  • Business Plan: $449.95/month

Which SEO tool should you choose for digital marketing?

When it comes to keyword data research, you will become confused about which one to choose.

Consider choosing Ahrefs if you

  • Like friendly and clean interface
  • Searching for simple keyword suggestions

  • Want to get more keywords for different search engines like Amazon, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, Baidu, and more

Consider SEMrush if you:

  • Want more marketing and SEO features
  • Need competitor analysis tool
  • Need to keep your backlinks profile clean
  • Looking for more keyword suggestions for Google

Both tools are great. Choose the one which meets your requirements and if you have any experience using either Ahrefs or SEMrush let me know in the comment section which works well for you.

  • Creating visual content on the go
  • You can find royalty free images, audio, and video without having to subscribe to another service.

Cons:

  • Some professional templates are available for Pro user only
  • Advanced photo editing features like blurring or erasing a specific area are missing.
  • Some elements that fall outside of a design are tricky to retrieve.
  • Features (like Canva presentations) could use some improvement.
  • If you are a regular user of Adobe products, you might find Canva's features limited.
  • Prefers to work with vectors. Especially logos.
  • Expensive enterprise pricing

Conclusion

In general, Canva is an excellent tool for those who need simple images for projects. If you are a graphic designer with experience, you will find Canva’s platform lacking in customization and advanced features – particularly vectors.
